Project Scope:  
GNE provided design and construction engineering services for a $25 million, 300,000 barrel storage facility at Anchorage International Airport. Provided an in-depth study to identify maintenance and repair work and system upgrades to insure the facility complied with local, state, and federal regulations and operations procedures.

A380-Ramp-Expansion-2.jpg All engineering work was provided in accordance with the requirements of the latest applicable local, State of Alaska, and National regulations and codes.

Project Details:


  • Designed all tankage, secondary containment, fire suppression system, transfer piping, and a distribution system capable of delivering over 3,000,000 gallons per day at a rate of up to 12,000 gallons per minute
  • Designed a new piping system to include piping and controls for primary day tanks, bulk storage yard piping, control buildings, foundations, electrical pump controls, leak detection, pipe supports, guides and anchors
  • Provided coordination of civil, geotechnical, survey, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, instrumentation, and cathodic protection
  • Provided technical support for local, State and Federal permitting
  • Provided construction management services as the Owner’s representative. These services required:
    • An engineer on-site daily during the 1-1/2 years of facility construction
    • Responsibility to ensure the job was built within the construction budget, within the specifications of the design and on time
