Mechanical Engineer

Job Duties/Responsibilities: Industrial and petrochemical process facilities design. Familiar with ASME and piping codes, job specification, contract management, and construction/project management. Plans, organizes, and leads the mechanical engineering design activities for projects. Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates mechanical engineering discipline project functions. Independently makes recommendations and analyses based on engineering experience, investigation of problems, and consultation with technical resources. Interfaces with other engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, and project engineers to provide staffing, handle technical requirements, and resolve project design problems. Prepares equipment specification and data sheets for procurement. Confers with clients, other engineering disciplines and project engineers to clarify or resolve problems and develop designs.

Experience: Requires 5-10 years industrial plant design experience in petrochemical facilities Must have working knowledge of ASME B31.3, B31.4 and B31.8 piping codes. Experience with P&IDs, PFDs, ASME Section VII, API 650, and hazards analysis will be considered a plus. Must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.

Education and Training: Qualified candidate must hold an Alaska P.E., or be willing to obtain an Alaska P.E., in the near future. Must demonstrate excellent organizational and project task skills and be proficient in the use of PC computer using basic workplace and engineering software including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications.

Electrical Engineer

Job Duties/Responsibilities: Industrial and petrochemical process facilities design, power systems, power generation, distribution, and controls (SCADA). Facilities design, job specification, contract management, and construction/project management.

Experience: Requires 5-10 years industrial plant design experience in power systems, power generation, distribution, and controls (SCADA). Must have working knowledge of National Electrical Codes (NEC) and API Standards.

Education and Training: Qualified candidate must hold an Alaska P.E., or be willing to obtain an Alaska P.E., in the near future. Must demonstrate excellent organizational and project task skills and be proficient in the use of PC computer using basic workplace and engineering software including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications.

Structural/Civil Engineer

Job Duties/Responsibilities:Provide structural solutions to support projects including calculations, design development, bid documents, specifications, field inspections, and construction engineering support.

Experience: Requires 5-10 years of relevant experience with knowledge of codes, statutes, and laws related to structural design and contruction projects.

Education and Training: Qulaified candidate must have a B.S. in engineering with an Alaska PE in Civil/Structural Engineering, or be willing to obtain an Alaska PE in the near future. Must demonstrate excellent organizational, writing, interpersonal and project task skills; including, basic PC knowledge in engineering software, and spread sheet/data base applications.

Designer/Drafter

Drafting positions require a flexible and knowledgeable person who can compliment the engineers and work diligently along side them. The qualified candidate must have experience in industrial/commercial drafting or design, specifically to compliment our engineers in structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines. Great Northern Engineering's project emphasis is in the industrial building and petrochemical process facilities design, as well as commercial building design. Proficiency in the latest releases of AutoCAD is a must. Candidates will be exposed to GNE's drafting standards and techniques while having the opportunity to contribute to the development of new standards and be part of an innovative design team.

Administrative:

Administrative positions require excellent interpersonal skills and PC knowledge. Administration works closely with the engineers, drafters and clients. The qualified people need: Outstanding organizational skills, communication, and multi-tasking skills.

Engineering Assistant/Job Cost Accountant:

Job Duties/Responsibilities: This position provides job cost tracking from the start of a project to the end, including: Proposal, (cost estimate) conformity, contract, notice to proceed, change order, spreadsheet tracking of job costs and hours, analysis and reporting of projects, invoicing, account receivable, and closing projects. Have the ability to build customized spreadsheets for cost tracking an analysis of particular projects.

Experience: Knowledge in: PC programs, managing pay rolling timesheets, purchase orders, specification examples, and weekly/monthly status reports.

Education and Training: Qualified candidate must have a minimum of an Associates degree in Business and must possess the following skills: Easygoing nature that allows for good working relationships, proficient with Microsoft Excel and Office, and be able to organize and keep accurate records.

Business Manager:

Job Duties/Responsibilities: The Business Manager is responsible for assisting the engineers with proposal writing, technical support, and marketing for Great Northern Engineering. This person is responsible to coordinate and manage the daily activities in the front office. Management of front office personnel and activities including the upkeep of the front office manual and procedures. Coordinate and manage monthly/weekly meetings with office personnel. Coordinate marketing for the company. This will include: Database, systematic search for potential markets, document control of marketing packages, and follow-up on leads. Development and utilize a full complement of marketing vehicles to support the marketing program. This will encompass website, advertising materials, Job Fairs, and brochures.

Experience: Knowledge in PC programs, preparing and submitting proposals, statements and qualifications, requesting proposals and quotes.

Education and Training: Qualified candidate must have a minimum of an Associates degree in Business Management and between 1-10 years experience.

Office Clerical/Receptionist:

Job Duties/Responsibilities: Great Northern Engineering is looking for a responsible individual who can perform general clerical skills, such as: Answering phones, taking accurate messages, faxing, copying, e-mailing (following correct GNE tracking procedures), and greeting clients.

Experience: Qualified candidate must be proficient in Windows 2000/XP, be able to type at least 40 WPM, be familiar with the Internet and how to search for products, and must be able to proof-read for accuracy, completeness and correct English usage.

Education and Training: Qualified candidate must have experience working in a front office position. This position calls for flexibility, self-motivation, communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work under time constraints.
